I haven't heard a single other song from these guys (which I plan to rectify immediately) nor do I know a single fact about them, but damn I love this song. Killers, much?
The Parlotones - Push Me to the Floor
ps - movies and engagement parties and birthday party buses, oh my!
Kind of a random one from Art and the boys, but it popped up as I was gearing up for the Summerland show and it's been stuck in my head all week. These guys know how to write pop alt rock.....even if it mostly all blends together when you listen to 30 songs in a row...
Everclear - Learning How to Smile
ps - i miss the 90s....even if this song did come out in 2000...
Looking for a great song to throw on before crashing out? Here you go. Dreamy and beautiful in all the right ways. When I saw Portugal. The Man a month or so ago with the UCLA philharmonic, they closed their set with this and it morphed into Hey Jude at one point...it was one of the best finales in recent memory.
I really have no idea how Spotify calculates one's 'top tracks'...stuff I only listen to once in a given week (or don't even remember ever listening to) will often inexplicably appear as my #3 or #4 song of the week, and something I know I listened to at least 7 times will come in at #19 or not at all...but the song below has rightfully been in my top 10 for I don't know how long... Spotify is at least doing one thing right.
Anyway, I'm not really sure how other folks will respond to this one, but I'm obsessed.
Family of the Year - St. Croix
ps - graffiti6 covered 'no diggity' last night and it was pretty rad
I swear I thought this song was called 'Blood for Puppies' until about 24 seconds ago. It's great to see Garbage back and rocking. I got to see them a few months ago and they put on a sweet show....they covered all the essentials without bombarding the crowd with too much new stuff they didn't know. Among the few new songs they played, though, this one stood out to me in particular.
Garbage - Blood For Poppies
ps - why did i eat 3 slices of pizza at 2am last night?
This just might be my favorite song of last Fall. For some inexplicable reason I get a big kick out of the part where he says, "I need to see her face for one last time", because it sounds like "I need to see her facebook one last time". Yep, I'm cool.
Wolf Gang - The King and All of His Men
ps - i guess john carter was better than prince of persia?
So after a brief 8 month hiatus, I figured maybe I'd start this back up again. I've got a ton of catching up to do, but I'm also really lazy....so this may not last too long...
I guess lets start with one of my favorite bands to come out in the last couple years...AWOLNATION. You've certainly heard 'Sail' and now 'Not Your Fault' is getting some play, but here's another one I really dig. They killed at Coachella (where a totally unexpected Macy Gray came out and sang 'Sail' with them).
AWOLNATION - Jump On My Shoulders
ps - see you tomorrow....maybe....
pss - i'll make a spotify playlist of all the songs to date at some point (though not all of the songs are even on there), and i just noticed that my formally complete grooveshark playlist (linked on the side) had about 50 songs deleted from it, so that's messed up, too... ay dios mio.
