ps - gentlemen of the road was great! grouplove dominated as always, mumford was really good, and the very best closed it with an all out dance party culminating with a cover of michael jackson's 'will you be there' (yep, the free willy song)
Excited to see these guys this weekend at Gentleman of the Road. I always hear how fun they are live, yet never got to check them out. Fun Fact: The lead singer was the co-star of Everything is Illuminated with Elijah Wood.
I wanted to post this like 2 weeks ago, but it was nowhere to be found..looks like it finally made its way onto the interwebs. Get ready for some anthemic pop not totally unlike Walk the Moon.
Youngblood Hawke - We Come Running
ps - 3 fantasy drafts in 4 days might be overdoing it...
This forgotten classic from the most excellent Singles soundtrack is dedicated to my beautiful blue Zune. I just found it under my bed after having thought I left it on a flight from Vegas back in March. So happy right now.
Screaming Trees - Nearly Lost You
ps - yes, i own a zune. jealous, much? suck it, apple.
You know this song...and it's awesome...and it provided one of my all time favorite videos (which, watching now, I totally realize was shot in westwood!). It was pretty cool seeing Fatboy Slim up there in the Olympic closing ceremony on top of some giant octopus...I forgot he's so old.
Dark and brooding, yet kind of beautiful, this song is like an indie movie you know is supposed to be good, but have trouble getting yourself to watch because it seems like a chore and you're not in the right mood...but once you do finally flip it on, you're thinking, "man, this really is good!".
Woodkid - Run Boy Run
ps - i think we all get way more excited about the idea of shark week, than we do the actual watching of shark week.
A little folkish indie rock for this Tuesday. Apparently these guys changed their name from Bison to The Last Bison about 3 weeks ago. Cool.
The Last Bison - Switzerland
ps - if you plan on seeing killer joe, just know that it's probably going to ruin your appetite for fried chicken for the foreseeable future... really liked it, though..in all its twisted glory.
I could swear I heard this song used in a movie trailer once, but I can't place it, and google isn't helping any either. Well, if it hasn't been in a trailer, it sure should be. Dark, spacey, haunting, epic...it really sets a mood. Dig it.
I heard this a few times today and I always enjoy it, so it gets on here. I didn't know a single lyric, other than the oh-oh-oh's, until I looked it up a few seconds ago. I'll continue to sing it with gibberish.
