This would be perfect for a montage in a movie after two people get in a fight about something and they're all depressed and alone and not talking to each other...
I feel a little weird endorsing Taylor Momsen's band (yep, she was that little girl in How The Grinch Stole Christmas), but this song is just an all out rockfest. No shame in rocking out from time to time.
The Pretty Reckless - Goin' Down
ps - that west virginia/baylor game was nuts. good news for texas next week: wvu's defense ain't so great...and the bad news: their offense is ridiculous...
tUnE-yArDs is definitely a bit of an acquired taste. This won't be everyone's cup of tea, but if you don't like it at first and have the patience to give it a few listens, I think you might be surprised...
A bold and risky sample choice, but British rapper Devlin knocks it out of the park. This is the kind of stuff I want to hear more of....I've had trouble finding any memorable hip hop recently.
Devlin - Watchtower (feat. Ed Sheeran)
ps - i need to check out this new kanye g.o.o.d. album...though mercy never made an impression on me.
These guys are like a super rich chocolate cake...great in small bits, but after a while you just need to take a break because you feel like you might get sick. With that said, I freakin love this song.
Alabama Shakes - I Found You
ps - this was a much better fantasy week than the last.
Happy 300th song, errbody! It only took 612 days to get here...that 8 month "hiatus" sure hurt. Here's to 300 more. Let's go back to the classics for this one...
The Silversun Pickups are one of those bands I don't think about very much (does anyone, really?), yet every time I hear them, I tell myself I need to listen to them more often. Their consistency and staying power is pretty rare these days in the rock genre. It's rarely anything that's gonna blow your mind, but it rarely sucks either. It's just extremely solid and reliable...sometimes crossing the "really freaking good" threshold. I think this is one of the ones that crosses that threshold...
Silversun Pickups - The Pit
ps - first weekend in la in a month. i definitely need it.
He's got other songs! I really like this...it's much more upbeat than the one "that you used to know". Very simple, very happy, very positive. And there's horns...I love me some horns.
This has been sitting in my 'starred' spotify songs since early March, and it's about damn time I get it on here. If you like your rock catchy, with "woah-ohs", sing-along choruses, and plenty of cowbell, then you'll probably dig this...
OK, let's get back to it....all 2 of you that ever read this. I don't know why, but I woke up with this song in my head...pretty random....but pretty ok... I think it's time for a new album.
Can't say I've been too big on the few other songs I've heard by The Presets, but this one gets me good. gho, gho, gho, gho, gho, gho, gho ghosts in heaven.
