Seriously, Evil Friends is one of my favorite albums of the last couple years. They just killed it last night at The Greek.
Portugal. The Man - Creep In a T-Shirt
ps - throughout their set they did some partial covers, including: day man (it's always sunny), another brick in the wall (pink floyd), don't look back in anger (oasis), and the most unexpected of all, kilo (ghostface killah)... the inspiration for yesterday's song.
Tonight I was reminded of someone I haven't listened to in ages....the one and only Ghostface Killah. Now I can't say I'm a Ghostface aficionado, but that Fishscale album was something else. One of my favorite hip hop songs of all time right here...
Ghostface Killah - The Champ
ps - the honda civic tour (grouplove/portgual. the man/tokyo police club) was excellent at the greek tonight
In a weird way this song reminds me of the Jennifer Hudson song from Dreamgirls, which in turn, reminds me of Jake Gyllenhaal singing that same song in a dress on SNL. Fun!
EDIT (8/12/14): I'm an idiot and just realized I actually posted 'Mothers Daughters Sisters and Wives' before. On 7/9/11 to be exact (Song of the Day #167). To correct my ways, I have picked another Voxtrot song...which is great since I probably spent 10 minutes trying to decide between that original song and the one below...
Only because yesterday when I was pulling up 'Normal Person' on Spotfiy, I noticed they had Voxtrot in the related artists list and it just took me back... Great Austin band that dissolved way too soon. Listened to their first 2 ep's for a long, long time. Time to revisit!
Voxtrot - Raised By Wolves
ps - i even went to college with one of the guys in the band
