Song of the Day #742 - got it all, pam! got everything, got everything, got everything

Back to some Coachella artists I wanted to highlight another song from.  Deal with it.
The other killer track of Junk.

M83 - Laser Gun (featuring Mai Lan)

ps - the nice guys was not quite kiss kiss bang bang, but still a really good time

Song of the Day #740 - please don't knock over my heart

Rough time slot for Miike Snow..the 5pm-first-on-the-main-stage-slot.  Still love ya, Miikey.

Miike Snow - Heart Is Full

ps -  third miike snow song in 2016!

Song of the Day #739 - yeah, we're lookin at ya

Good 'ol Garbage. Only had 30 minutes, but cranked out the hits.  Didn't have time for this lesser "hit", but I've always really liked it.

Garbage - Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go)

ps - shirley fell off the stage!

Song of the Day #738 - she's so energetic in her sweaty overalls

What a kooky song. I love it.  Best Weezer song since '(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To'.

Weezer - Thank God For Girls

ps - poor guys had to play immediately after the chilis announced they weren't playing...the venue was deflated.

Song of the Day #737 - oh, we gotta turn up the crazy

Gotta say Panic! crushed it. Outside of the Blink surprise, they may have been the best band of the day.

Panic! At The Disco - Victorious

ps - they absolutely destroyed 'bohemian rhapsody'

Song of the Day #736 - let's make this last forever

So, uh, Blink came out and played a set totally unexpectedly.  That was pretty fantastic.  Matt Skiba filled in just fine, but it was definitely a little weird without Tom. Still a blast.  We'll go ahead and do a Tom song

Blink 182 - First Date

ps - got blink tix for the fall!

Song of the Day #735 - pointing nasty fingers and making fun

Alright, missed a few days, and I think we've exhausted the Coachella theme... so let's get into Weenie Roast!  Man, it was a fun fest.  We'll start off with the first act I saw... Lukas Graham.  Whatever your opinion of '7 Years' is (I dig it), this guy/band has talent.  This one's a little homage to 'Hard Knock Life'...

Lukas Graham - Mama Said

ps - looks like anthony kiedis is ok after the hospital scare...glad to hear it.

Song of the Day #734 - i'll drive my car without the brakes

Never have gotten super into these fellas, but I do dig this song a lot.  Lord Huron and The Kills won this time conflict for me.

Foals - Mountain At My Gates

ps - weenie roast today!  maybe once i'm done with this neverending coachella nostalgia trip, i'll do some entries for the bands of weenie.

Song of the Day #733 - i made a lot of mistakes, in my mind, in my mind

I made no effort whatsoever to see 'ol Sufjan because I thought he would bring out the boring, but everything I read after the fact said otherwise.  It was supposedly one of the best sets of the fest.  So now I have my tix to see him at the Bowl in August. Boy better not disappoint.  This song is so damn beautiful.

Sufjan Stevens - Chicago

ps - i was just there!

Song of the Day #732 - if it's a game, well... we want it!

I actually had no interest in seeing the Pickups (tough timeslot and I saw them several months ago), but I just really dig this song.  There's at least one song (if not more) every album that they just absolutely knock out of the park.

Silversun Pickups - Nightlight

ps - i still haven't seen captain america

Song of the Day #731 - am I wrong to assume If she can't dance, then she can't ooh?

Missed him because we went to Chainsmokers...  the whole Stephen Jenkins thing makes it ok... but ,man...this kid is on fire.

Anderson .Paak - Am I Wrong (feat. Schoolboy Q)

ps - go mets!

Song of the Day #730 - i bet you wanna walk away, run away, look away, turn away

Another Sunday act I missed because I couldn't get there in time.  The first time the Coachella bus system has ever failed me.  This girl kicks some ass.

Meg Myers - Lemon Eyes

ps - i own more than one album on vinyl!

Monday, May 9, 2016

Song of the Day #729 - i'm looking for the pot at the end of the rainbow, but all i found is blues

Probably the band I'm the most bummed to have missed.  Just scheduled too early on Sunday.  As you can tell by the spelling of "you", this is not, in fact, of Kelly Clarkson.

The Heavy - Since You Been Gone

ps - going to oldchella!

Sunday, May 8, 2016

Song of the Day #728 - ladies and gentleman, the dj just threw up on the dance floor

Hadn't really ever heard these guys until I started listening to Coachella playlists in the weeks leading up to the festival.  So very much wish I'd gotten there early enough on Friday to check them out.

The Front Bottoms - Laugh Till I Cry

ps - oh yeah, i never made any comments about the draft. i guess that about sums up my thoughts.

Song of the Day #727 - b-e-h-a-v-e, arrest us

Now onto a smattering of stuff I didn't get to see, but wanted to... (in no particular order).  We'll start with a little Grimes.  Unfortunate that she was up during GnR.  Definitely need to see her live at some point...I bet it's just nuts.

Grimes -  Kill v. Maim

ps - happy derby day!

Song of the Day #726 - but i can't help myself from these temptations

We braved 30 minutes of the Sahara tent post sunset for these guys and it was fun....as fun as barely being able to move and developing claustrophobia can be..  The best part was EASILY Stephen Jenkins coming out and singing a minute of 'Jumper'...the worst part was that he only came out for a minute.

The Chainsmokers - Good Intentions (feat. BullySongs)

ps - on to Chicago

Thursday, May 5, 2016

Song of the Day #725 - there's nothing to do here, some just whine and complain

I prefer them indoors, but I still made a point to catch 20 minutes of their set.  Outside of their singles, I haven't listened to much CWK since the first album.  Let's go back to that one...

Cold War Kids - Hospital Beds

ps - my apartment is a disaster zone right now

Wednesday, May 4, 2016

Song of the Day #724 - we all sing along, but the notes are wrong

These guys are just ridiculous.  Always a great time.

Matt and Kim - Get It

ps - the kroq weenie roast lineup is pretty damn good

Tuesday, May 3, 2016

Song of the Day #723 - baby, let's forget the morning

Loving the new album.  Loved them as the 2nd to last act I saw at the fest.  Can't wait to see them again.

Miike Snow - My Trigger

ps - turntable is finally almost fully set up...this process has been drawn out significantly longer than i intended.  i really am a poser.

Song of the Day #722 - convince yourself that everything is alright

I only went to his set for about 15 minutes for the nostalgia, but Pete Yorn was a nice refreshing change from most of the other stuff at the fest.  And he definitely brought a much older crowd than most of the other stuff at the fest. I totally forgot this song existed until about 20 minutes ago (and apparently he played it right after I left), but it was most certainly my favorite off his first album.

Pete Yorn - For Nancy ('Cos It Already Is)

ps - i really thought 'life on a chain' was yorn's only "hit", but the spotify play counts tell a different story...

Sunday, May 1, 2016

Song of the Day #721 - you make me feel, oh how you say, feel so special

Been waiting to get to Sunday of the fest so I could post one from these guys (their 4th on the blog).
They're just so damn fun...so fun I had to go see them again the following weekend when they played in LA.  If you don't leave their show sweaty and with a giant smile on your face, you're doing something wrong.

Crystal Fighters - Love Natural

ps - and no, they're not gonna win any awards for their lyrics
